樹齢1000年の屋久杉は、倒れた後も1000年かけて土に還ると言われ
ています。屋久島には巨大な倒木がそこかしこに転がっています。
倒木はやがて苔に覆われ、苔からは新しい命が芽吹きます。
その姿を眺めていると、生と死の境界線が曖昧に思えてきます。
長い時間をかけて朽ちながら、新しい命に姿を変えていく。
私の中で、倒木は不思議の塊となりました。
Fallen trees
It is said that 1,000-year-old Yakusugi trees take 1,000 years after they have fallen
to return to the earth.There are huge fallen trees lying around everywhere on the
island of Yakushima.The fallen trees are eventually covered with moss, from where
new lives bud.Looking at this scenery, the boundary between life and death starts
to appear ambiguous.After decaying over a long time, they become new life.
The fallen trees leave me full of wonder.

1978 年生まれ。自然風景を中心に自然に関わる分野を幅広く撮影している。
「ナショナルジオグラフィック国際フォトコンテスト」自然部門入賞、パリ
写真賞「Paris Photography Prize」野生動物部門1位・地球写真部門1位、国際
モノクローム写真賞「Monochrome Photography Awards」ランドスケープ・フォト
グラファー・オブザイヤー受賞、「レンズカルチャー地球写真賞」単一写真部
門2位、そのほかIPAやネイチャーズベストフォトグラフィーなど主要な国際写真
賞に入賞している。作品は、米国立スミソニアン自然史博物館、国連気候変動枠
組条約第21回締約国会議、世界大都市気候先導グループ会議などに写真展示され、
ドイツ博物館やロンドン自然史博物館発行誌、LensCulture Earth Awards Book、
International Photography Awards Book、ほか国内外の自然誌に掲載されている。

Prize/Nature Wildlife 1st Place Winner, Monochrome Photography Awards/1st Place
Winner ? Landscape Photographer of the Year 2014, People 3rd Place Winner 2014,
LensCulture Earth Awards 2015/SINGLE IMAGE CATEGORY 2nd Place, Nature’s Best
Photography Awards. His work went on to be displayed in the Smithsonian National
Museum of Natural History, COP21-PARIS 2015 PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION,
C40 Mayors Summit 2016. His photographs depict natural scenery, the confrontation
between Human and nature, and environmental problems. He is active in a wide variety
of media, including magazines,Various publications, and advertisements.
